Aubrey Carrigan

Aubrey Carrigan, professional, 1952 Aubrey Carrigan of Queensland came to the Club in 1952 having taken a score of 169 off the West Indies in 1951/52, and having 100 against MCC in Brisbane on the 1949/50 tour when he was dropped by J J Warr before he had scored. His salary amounted to 20 per week plus cost of passage from Australia for his family and himself. He had topped the Queensland averages and had scored a double century for his club side, Toombul, in Brisbane.

He was a right arm fast medium bowler and a right hand bat, and in his one season, scored 719 runs at 51.3 and took 42 wickets at 20.5. He was a motivator, and his motivation, drive and emphasis on fielding laid a good foundation for the side which came second in the League in 1953 with the Indian P R Umrigar as professional.
